It’s mid morning on November 9th 2012 and I’m sitting in a nail salon acting like a girlie girl. Always yearning for inspiration and information, I decide to check out my Twitter feed. Quest accomplished! OMG! Bruce’s official Twitter account announces the ultimate gift and invitation for Springsteen fans worldwide. It’s a call out to make a film about Bruce and what he means to you. Seriously? My head started spinning. My creative mind was suddenly on a rollercoaster ride but not due to the smell of nail polish or shellac. I was engulfed in a tornado mindspin about all things Springsteen. For one brief moment, I wondered if I was a bit delusional. I started questioning my vision and my mind. Am I imaging this? Did I read that tweet properly? OMG!
Oh YES! No delusions thankfully (in this particular situation anyway!) The invitation was for real. I logged onto Bruce’s website and found out that Scott Free Productions (linked to motion picture director Ridley Scott of Gladiator fame) is producing a documentary for the big screen, Springsteen and I.
The producers of the film want the most personal insights, abstractions, and reflections on how Bruce Springsteen and his music affect the lives of his millions of fans. HELLO!!! This project has my name written all over it. Woohoo!
At this point, I couldn’t wait for the damn nails to dry. UGH! I immediately called my husband and my video production friends. There’s no way I was going to pass on this incredible opportunity. I was answering the call without a doubt.
Lights, Camera, Action!
The producers are looking for a wide variety of creative interpretations. I submitted seven video clips and I’m hoping and praying that one of my reflections will be selected. I’m competing against the worldwide fan base. No pressure at all! No matter what the outcome, I’m so happy I took a shot at this unique cinematic experience. OMG! Could you imagine if this Jersey Girl makes it to the big screen talking about her obsession? Meryl Streep…watch out!
Not sure when the producers plan on making any decisions. Stay tuned…trust me…there’s no way you’ll miss the news flash if I’m miraculously part of Springsteen and I.
