New York City Serenade

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

Newsflash…This just in… LeeLee is obsessed with New York City.

I absolutely love love love New York City!!!! I mean LOVE! Everything about it too…even the subway smell…along with the energy, the concrete jungle, the park, the food, the shopping, the museums, the people, and on and on.  The thought of spending time in New York City makes me so happy almost as happy as the sound of a Springsteen song. I’m a Jersey Girl that LOVES New York City.  This love affair is a result of growing up literally across the river from Manhattan.  5 Miles in fact from Times Square. The love affair grew even stronger in the early 90s while attending New York University.  The love is unconditional and NEW YORK tough…it will never die!

While trying to decide which Springsteen tune I’d choose for my blog post, I looked back to the past weekend.  Fortunately, I spent the time in the city with my husband Tom!  So… it’s rather appropriate to turn to Bruce’s New York City Serenade for inspiration this week.

“waltz with me down Broadway

 move with me down Broadway”

There’s something about the commotion, the crowd, and the bright lights down Broadway…they all offer quite the jolt! Tom and I tried to waltz down Broadway alright! It wasn’t graceful by any means…pushing through the crowds around Times Square…more a breakdance than a waltz actually! We definitely had all the right moves though…especially when we walked up to the Broadway Tickets booth on Saturday afternoon and scored two fabulous seats to Newsies.  The dancing in that Broadway show is beyond phenomenal…certainly worthy of the Tony Award it so rightfully won!!!!  The show was absolutely terrific!

 move with me down Broadway”

Move with me down Broadway ….that’s exactly what we did on Sunday…a move down Broadway…down to Greenwich Village. No trip to New York City would be complete without a stop at my alma mater NYU.  This time the visit was full of Hollywood flair and star-studded! Fortunately, Tom and I attended a gala at NYU for the New York Dance Alliance Foundation. It was an amazing event full of New York City Serenades in the form of Broadway tunes and dance numbers. Incredible talent! I’m a huge fan of the Arts especially dance so of course, I loved the productions! I still own tap shoes and will always cherish my 15 years of dance lessons… so it’s no surprise that I wanted to jump on the stage with the dancers! No worries…I didn’t!

Back to the gala…I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with members of the Entertainment Press, Broadway stars, AND…the special Honoree of the evening…oh just one of my favorite Broadway and Movie stars…Academy Award and Tony Award Winner…Catherine Zeta Jones! What a blast! Sorry for the name dropping but I had so much fun!!!!

The weekend was spectacular! …. Just as spectacular as my favorite view and part of New York City- Central Park! Absolutely perfect for a 14th Wedding Anniversary Celebration! Thank you Tom! I love you! And I love NY!!!
