“Talk about a dream
Try to make it real”
“ I believe in the love that
You gave me
I believe in the faith that
Could save me”
-Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band
How lucky is my second child, Anthony? So lucky! His welcoming song into the world was “Badlands.”
On April 18, 2002, I was induced into labor. Prior to arriving at the hospital, my doctor suggested that I should bring some music with me to play in the delivery room. Of course, classic Springsteen was my music of choice. I listened to Bruce while breathing and pushing. Now, every time I hear “Badlands,” I think of my son Anthony James. He is so incredibly lucky! How many kids can actually say they were born while a Springsteen tune played as the background noise?
“Talk about a dream, try to make it real.” Anthony is named after my maternal grandfather. I always dreamt of naming one of my children after my grandfather. To me, it seemed the perfect way to honor him. Although I only enjoyed getting to know my grandfather for about 15 years, we shared a very special bond.
His love was so strong. He lived for my happiness. I always felt so adored and not to mention, spoiled by him. I talked about the dream and thankfully, made it real. I’m thrilled one of my sons is named after him. I needed to express just how much I loved my grandfather and how much I appreciated everything he did for me. He was an amazing person that holds a very special place in my heart. Anthony James is truly lucky to share his name! Through Anthony, the cherished memories I have of my grandfather live on.
“I believe in the love that you gave me, I believe in the faith that could save me.” My grandfather or as I referred to him, my Nonno, has been gone for 25 years but I still feel his love and presence. He’s one of my guardian angels. I’m certain he’s always watching over me. His love carries on. In many ways, he taught me the true meaning of love…an unconditional affection.
“I believe in the love that you gave me” Thank you, Nonno, for showing me how to love.
“ I believe in the faith that could save me” Thank you, Nonno, for giving me the faith to pray to you. I know you’re one of the special souls protecting me from above. I still believe you’re looking out for me. My faith in you has and always will, save me!
